What HB settig for aTV 1 & 2

I've just bought an aTV 2, and already have an aTV 1.

I've been using HB on Mac to convert and using the Apple TV setting profile. This plays on my iPhone 4, aTV 1, iPad 2 and PS3.

Now I have an aTV 2 what setting should I use for the above devices please? Will aTV 2 profile play on an aTV 1 for eg?

ATV1 profile will play on both ATV1 and ATV2.
ATV2 profile will only play on ATV2.

So if you want to play it on ATV1 and ATV2 then use the ATV1 profile.

I'd consider what your future needs will be before you encode a bunch of movies. I use high profile which passes through the full DD soundtrack and uses a bit higher video quality. Not sure if it will play on ATV1. It plays on ATV2 and iPad fine.

Yeh I started doing universal when had 3Gs, then got iPhone 4 and aTV 1. Who knows on future but I'm not a person who has to have best quality as long as looks good on my TV to watch thats fine.

So is aTV 1 profile better than universal profile?

I saw another converter but can't remember name now, it was cost at about $10 something like iTl or something that looked good, any ideas?

No it wont, any profile that uses CABAC or Weighted P-Frames wont play on the ATV1

Yes, the ATV1 profile is better than the Universal one.

Huh, if that's OK with you... me, I'd rather buy another ATV2 than encode at lesser quality.

True but as I have a perfectly functioning aTV 1 that will go in my daughters room, and be better as I can sync movies and use it independently, I have to see what is best for my devices.

As I say I've converted quite a few already, and I'm not a person who wants the movies to be pixel perfect. I'd rather have a decent conversion and it all tagged right to show up on aTV (I use iDentify2 for this.)

Any tips on that program name I'm looking for? I dont mind paying for food products or is HB still the best?

The program name I'm after is available in Mac app store but limited and also as a separate release but with extra DVD conversion functions I think.

Can someone remember it?

Also it looks like for me I'll have to use aTV 1 profile then for my iPad 2, iPhone 4, PS3, aTV 1 and aTV 2 - yeh? Surely there can't be that much difference quality wise between aTV 1 and aTV 2 profiles is there?

I'm not sure what it's like, if better/worse or faster/slower than HB but anyone used it? It costs a little but I don't mind paying for something that works well and easy to use.
