Hey everyone,

This is a thread for anyone considering buying a MBP and curious about what other users use theirs for. So please just post what type of machine you have and what are your main tasks.

Thanks!

I've got a 15", 2.16Ghz Core 2 Duo. I mainly use my computer for browsing the web, checking email and development work.

I would have gotten an Macbook, but 13.3" screen is too small for me and I don't like the keyboard.

Somewhat similar but i do a lot of school work instead of development, which, involves 3D modeling of proteins and DNA and have to give presentations, write weekly reports and build databases once every few weeks and then standard email/browsing/iTunes. So some significant stressing going on.

Would also have gotten a MacBook and in fact did but sold it to my brother cos the screen was too small and i kept getting bruises from the sharp edges of the base frame. Also found out i would be doing some modeling hence the GMA950 was no longer an option.

15" MBP C2D 2.16 - use in medical school - mainly projects (powerpoint and keynote), web browsing email, itunes, Tiger Woods PGA Tour 2005, iChat.

Also, just installed Logic Pro, Aperture, Shake, Toast 8, Final Cut Pro + Motion and Soundtrack - don't know how to use most of them, but am slowly learning...I will be a pro soon, hopefully.

2.16 C2D, 15" MBP with 2GB of RAM, use it for iTunes, Internet, email, BT downloads & online music radio from Thailand and Hong Kong. Adding a 30"ACD next month, a birthday present from me. ;)

Mostly web surfing, adium, x-chat aqua, pages, keynote, word, email, excel, and student development (programming). Could have done with the macbook, but I wanted the bigger size for more space to look at code.

It's my main computer. I use it at work (iCal, mail, Address Bk, Office). At home, I use it for playing music through AirTunes, photos, surfing, BT Downloads, watching DVDs, and I have a miglia TVmini in the bedroom for watching Freeview TV. I couldn't manage without it! :)

2.0Ghz, 2gig ram, core duo,

use it for web, email, ftp, ical, skype, delicious library, iTunes, Google Earth, Limewire, stickies...

Aperture for my photo work (not a pro)

System administration (of mainly linux servers by ssh).

do a fair bit of cd / dvd burning (toast and other apps like mac the ripper, handbrake, dvd2onex, etc)

sometimes watch some TV (eyeTV DTT)

wouldn't really say I use it for my regular job, but do use it for work 'on the side', and my every day machine. Sits on my desk at home, my desk at work, and goes with me when I'm out and about, most of the time :)

I started to make a list and then stopped as I was listing every application on this sexy beast.

I utilize my MBP to the max. It's great. I love it. :)

I've only recently gotten mine, and havn't moved most tasks over from my iMac yet. So right now, mainly for surfing and World of Warcraft (via Bootcamp/XP). And a bit of Sam and Max.

Well, until I pick up my replacement battery tomorrow, sitting at my desk!

Actually, it's my workhorse. E-mail, IM, Web, and word processing for the mundane tasks, Macrumors and music for the more interesting stuff ;)

In reality, I also use it for FinalCut Pro Studio and Aperture with the assistance of my eSATA disks for scratch/storage (apps courtesy of my school), Nikon Capture 4/NX, and Photoshop CS3 beta.

2.16 Core Duo (original BTO version) 15", 256 X1600, 2GB RAM, 100GB 5400 with 500GB RAID0 via eSATA Expresscard

15" 2.0GHz Core Duo, 2GB RAM, 80GB HDD.

I use my MacBook Pro for encoding anime series, photoshop, surfing the web, word processing, some Mac gaming, to hold my anime collection (~30GB currently) and some messing around with Xcode and Dashcode.
