Perhaps, the biggest design controversial of the M1 iMac is the white bezel. So, I did a quick mock up (on iOS Keynote) to see how it would look like.

I don’t mind the white. Apple is very much doing a modern version of older design styles with everything, and the white with colors is the same as the old school colored iMacs.

That being said I think higher-spec iMacs like the 27” (or whatever size it is) will get more traditional darker colors and black bezels.

The fun colors and white bezels will also help differentiate the power user macs from the consumer macs. It’ll be more clear once the full lineup is released but right now it’s understandably confusing because even apples lowest level tier of macs (M1) can outperform some higher spec Intel macs. So I get why some power users think these machines are for them, but really these are baseline consumer macs meant for the general mass market.

Yes, perhaps what Apple is trying to do is to widen the gap between iMac and Pro version.

yep, apple is already doing so with the iphone/iphone pro or ipad air/ipad pro or macbook air/macbook pro
Apple is offering bright colours to the cheaper model while the pro have and will have more muted colours

none
They will make space grey an iMac pro option only. White bezels will signify inferior consumer products and space grey / black will be reserved for the superior pro products.
