Most Mobile Phone manufactures have many models of hand sets, perhaps its time for Apple to go this route too (I know there's the 3G and the 3GS and different memory options, but I'm talking about entirely different looking phones)...

In my opinion there would be split between people who would want the media / app / ipod functionality and the people who would prefer more dedicated business functionality (Push email / a proper keyboard / video skype etc...)

So what do you think the chances are of Apple creating a Pro version of the iPhone (Maybe with a unibody construction). It could have a bigger (wider) screen and the phone speaker on the other side of the phone. Maybe it could have a fold-out keypad and a front facing camera.

The iPhone and the iPhone Pro (What would you buy?) Please Vote here.:apple:

it is still a phone, no one is going to want it any bigger than it already is. any wider and it starts feeling like you are holding a loaf of bread next to your ear

Actually, I want iphone with same facilities as of now but its size be reduced in some way. Really bulky to hold now. Also a flash would be good.

Well what if there was a smaller one (Lets say the size of an iPod Nano) and then a larger one for people with Pro Needs?

The small one could still have some iPod and App capability but it would be simpler and possibly cheaper and then the Pro one would be an ultimate Smart Phone for the Pro User...

It sounds like you want a Blackberry. I think the chances of Apple making a device with a physical keyboard (or anything that looks even remotely like a Blackberry) are basically 0.

I'll go for longer battery life over smaller, it would be nice to make it through the day without charging my iPhone.

The 8 GB 3G is already only $99.

How much cheaper could a small phone be? Free?

And even if it IS free, how many people would buy a dumbed-down iPhone when they could get all the features of the 3G for just $99 more? (And consider, I'm sure that once the 4th-gen iPhone comes out they'll change the $99 phone to 3GS model.)

I simply can't imagine a tiny iPhone being a very good seller even if it cost $0.

What if I want both? I want the apps and media, but I also want functionality of email, documents and video chat.

13, 14 and 15 year-olds, might be a good option for them. I don't see it happening, but that would be the market for 0$ iphone.

how about leaving the world of smart phone and make a dumb phone. It would be more limited and I would argue much more limited on what it could do with data connections.

Dumping the 30 a month cost per phone for data would be great. Hell it would be really nice is in a family wiht a lot of dumb phones on the family plan they can get for 40 a month unlimited data/Text for all dumb phones on the family plan with ATT.

Now smart phones on those family plans have access to the unlimited txting.

I would rather have Apple focus on one phone than have a billion. I think thats what makes Apple, Apple. Since when do people want Apple to be like other companies. I like the fact that they only have one phone and kick ass in sales with that one phone. While others like HTC have i have no idea how many phones and still fall behind.

I would say no, stick to one phone. Set yourself apart from all the others Apple!

Personally I don't want a actual keyboard, but I would like a larger screen and one way to possibly do this would be to create a wider one (Proper 16x9) and move the phone speaker to the other side of the handset. I would also like a front facing camera for Skype Calls (Video Phoning).

The basic premise behind the two phone options is more that the "Pro" version would have everything and remain the same size as it is now and that the "Lite" version would have some of the functionality but not everything similar to the difference between the MacBook and the MacBook Pro - Both excellent laptops but one is geared more towards performance and pro users and the other has less performance and more of a consumer slant. Also some people don't want to carry around a big phone something the size of the Nano would be perfect for them...

Still shake my head every time someone says they want it smaller, exactly how small and light would you like a handheld laptop/phone? Personally I think it's too small already, I'd kill for a 20% bigger screen and better battery with the extra size, but I have big hands so what do I know.

If they made the screen even 1in larger, i wouldn't be able to hold the iphone with one hand and touch the upper left corner of the screen with my finger WITHOUT losing a LOT of grip.

P.S. I have pretty long fingers too

iPhone Pro with more capacity. The current 32GB is just not enough for me.

Don't need more than one "option". There are other phones out there if you don't like the iPhone option that is offered.

Smaller iPhone = Fail.... bigger iPhone with larger screen and larger battery would be sweet. If you hands are to small to hold a bit of a larger phone than iPhone isn't for you.... FFS doesn't that litter person Dr. in the Little Couple have an iPhone? She's like 3'8" or something....

Physical keyboard = Gehay..... the point of the digital keyboard is so it is easy to manufacture in many different language's. Add a physical keyboard and cost goes up, then we would have to hear people bitch about that.

Front facing camera.... really?

Flash for camera....it would suck like any other phone flash and you would bitch about that too. I would rather spend the extra space on things that actually improve the phone. Buy yourself a nikon if you want a camera with a flash.

Well I think with more options, more people will be drawn to the iphones. Look at the Droid. Not all the droid phones have done extremely well, but that is because they appeal to different groups of people. I love my iphone but if only one option is available then I think that as far as people who currently do not like the iphone will continue to stay the same way. Life is about choices, and the only choice that Apple has given us is Metal or Plastic, Fast, Faster, Fastest, white or black or 4g, 8g, 16g, 32g. All the phones screens have been exactly the same as far as look. Im ready for SOME kind of change.

Well if it were a smaller phone it would be a different type of phone - its still possible to watch video on an iPod Nano (its just not a great way to watch video). But I know of a few people who have decided against a smart Phone like the iPhone or Blackberry because they find them to big... Some have opted for phones like this Sony Ericsson (LINK) purely because it is small and has great specs...
