What intel mac fits your needs? (sorry about the other post. If there is a modreator reading they could just put it in wasteland or w/e)

...i need a upgradable computer
Agreed. Why can't Apple design a consumer-grade desktop computer that permits a decent amount of upgrading or add-ins? The Mac Mini is great and all, but I want a machine with space for full 3.5" drives (2 or 3 at least, not just one), a few expansion cards, and no display built in. I suppose what I'm asking for here is a modern-day Quadra 800. Not terribly expensive, but decent and thoroughly upgradeable.

I voted MacBook Pro because it's what I'm going to be getting soon. I need a fast processor for encoding video, graphics for playing games, large hard drive (going to add 160GB) for the video and portability because I bring it to school. Although right now I'm stuck on a iBook G4 14" which is far underpowered for what I do, has pretty bad graphics card so I can't do much gaming and has a smaller hard drive which is pretty full right now and the screen resolution is far from ideal for photoshop or anything else for that matter.

If they make the new iMac it should be upgradeable and not as expensive as the mac pro. I dont really care if it comes with the 23" screen thats fine for me. Also, it needs more choices. But the upgradeability is the BIG thing,

testify, i'd never use the power the mac pro had, but i would need it's 8 ram slots and 4 HDD slots, not to mention the PCI slots, and the ability to upgrade the graphics card

I'll post my response here too. MacPro is the best for me. I've always gotten some pro level machine with expansion (even if it was something like 1 PDS slot, I'm probably dating myself mentioning that LOL ).

I've become quite addicted to FrontRow for watching movies, TV shows etc and I'm doing it on a Mac Mini right now. I have 4 external hard drives around me as a result. LOL I don't LIKE haing 4 externals all around like this, I'd much prefer internal storage, hence why I have a MacPro on order (300 and 400GB drives awaiting their new home). Combine that with the video and DVD encoding work and of course games, the MacPro is even more of a fit. iMac, Mac Mini, MacBookPro just don't have enough storage for my needs.

I'm currently saving up for a Macbook, so I guess that's what I'd choose. But if I were looking to buy a desktop, it'd be an iMac (although I'd wait for the Core 2 Duo).

I have the 20" iMac, which is the perfect desktop for me, and the MacBook, which make the perfect laptop. They make a great team.

i need portability, i'm not desperately power-hungry, and it needs to cope with being roughed around a bit in my bag. the MacBook is the perfect machine!

For a desktop, i need a computer which won't take up room (because there is precious little of it on my desk), has something other than integrated GPU (ie has some form of power), has a 20" display or bigger, and won't require me to work at Maccy Ds for 2 yrs to buy. 23" 2.33GHz iMac, come my way...

EDIT: The mac mini is unpopular...50 votes and still 0%

Macbook for me. Great portability + all the power I need (though I wouldn't complain if a Mac Pro made its way to my desk.. ;) )

Since I already have an MBP, the intel mac that now fits my needs is the Mac Pro. I need more horsepower for photo editing apps, plus more expandability!

Macbook: it's durable, fast, tiny enough to hold in one hand without too much strength, and has a gorgeous screen. Perfect size screen and resolution for me make it hit the sweet spot. I need portability since I'm in college and need something to entertain me while the professor yaps. It's funny how I take better notes while I'm chatting on Adium than if I had no computer with me. I guess it's because I fall asleep so easily.

I do want a desktop to keep all my files, but a mac pro is complete overkill. I'd want something that could fit more than one hard drive so I'd say for desktop purposes I'd take a G4 powermac for my needs while I have my macbook for most other things
