Hi

I have previously added a 128 GB SSD to my iMac for system/apps and left the original 1TB HDD inside for data.

With the SSD storage becoming cheaper and cheaper I thought I might benefit from upgrading the current SSD to a larger one so also the data (especially photo library and Logics audio recordings) could stay there. Less demanding files could stay on the HDD

But what SSD is compatible today?
I’m thinking minimum 512GB or 1TB.

I have already maxed out ram to 32GB.

Just about any SSD will do.
Buy for price and size, not "by brand".
Bear in mind that the age of the iMac means "a slower bus", so the "fastest" 2.5" SSDs won't help any.

Great... thanks guys. I'll find one :)

I wish I had the courage to upgrade the CPU as well. It seems like I can get the i7 3.4 GHz for 80 GBP (and it's second hand and might not work).

I am getting some audio drop outs on my DAW (Logic Pro x), so the faster the better... but on the other hand its more money wasted on a "vintage" Mac
