Hey folks, after JB my iphone 5(Global version),the device is stuck at Apple Logo so I was suggested to download ios 7.0.4 and restore it.Since my device is Global Version(GSM),does downloading only-GSM versions of ios brick my device?

http://www.ipswdownloader.com/download-iphone-ipsw-files.php

If yes, then I visited the above website and clicked on Iphone 5(Global) 7.0.4.So did I get it right?

I am new to this guys,so kindly help me out.

Thank you so much!

You mean I should download the one that says Iphone 5 Global in the website, right?

And yes that is what the model no is.

iPhone5,2_7.0.4_11B554a_Restore.ipsw is what you need - it's at the top of the "iPhone 5 (Global)" section: http://appldnld.apple.com/iOS7/031-1790.20131114.P3wE4/iPhone5,2_7.0.4_11B554a_Restore.ipsw .

I too have an intl GSM model, which has model nr 1429.

BTW,

1. trying to manually (Alt+Restore) restore the wrong IPSW will not brick your device - you'll just get a warning. I've tried / seen this several times with the intl GSM iP5.

2. why don't you just click Restore in iTunes, and it'll fetch the right ipsw for you?

Thank you so much for that piece of information.Yes you are right but the thing is if the internet trips, its all gone and I will manually have to do it again,so its one of the problems and the moot issue is my internet trips sometimes and itunes method is absolutely safe but since you clarified my doubt I dont think this should be a worry anymore.

Since I am not installing OTA update,I can again JB my device and this time it wont cause any Boot logo-stuck issues, right?

Thank you so much friend and I am new to this JB,so please be around me.

If you do not restore earlier backups but set up your device as new, don't use pirate Cydia sources / cracked apps and only install recommended, iOS7-compliant apps from Cydia, you surely won't get any boot logo-stuck issues. I've restored 7.0.4 and re-JB'n my iPhone 5 (same intl GSM model as yours) at least 20 times during my tests of my call recorder DEB (see THIS) and my 7.0.4 vs. 7.1b2 Safari / UIWebView memory tests (see THIS).

Oh,that is quite awesome.Does that work will all version of JB and devices as well? But now I have already restored a back up from Icloud,is there any other way?

Nonetheless, the guys at Evasion said that OTA updates cause issues, since this aint an OTA update,do you think I can easily go ahead and RE-JB my iphone 5?

Its a wonderful post from you,I really learnt a lot.
