Hey all,

I've been wanting to get an iPad solely for reading sheet music. I know that an iPad Pro is probably the best size because it's closest to a piece of paper, but I'm considering getting a refurbished iPad 7th or 8th generation for this instead. I already own forScore and that's the software I intend to use.

Thoughts?

Why not the 12.9? Because of the price? You don't need the latest generation. An entry level 12.9 from 2018 would be relatively affordable. And even a 2015 one would be better than an iPad 7 or 8 for sheet music. I bought an Air 1 10 years ago and it was too small, then I moved to a surface pro 3, but when the first 12.9 come out I bought it immediately for sheet music, way better experience.
This is a picture I posted back in 2015 when I got the iPad pro (vs the air and the surface pro 3)

Here is a good discussion of sheet music and iPads on another Mac site I follow, TidBITS:

If you post to that thread, I think you might get a better response to your question than on MR.
