I'm not a big "gamer" and in fact haven't played anything but solitaire on an iPod. However, just seeing the Page 2 article on Pole Position for iPod, it got me thinking. There are some arcade classics I'd love to see on the iPod, so much so that I would indeed shell out a few bucks to play again.

My #1 Request? Dragon's Lair.

How cool would that be? And it would be quite usable on both iPod's and iPhones because it only requires a simple interface (up/down/left/right/sword). That was the coolest game ever, launching a new generation of "arcade reality" but at the same time indicating the impending demise of the arcade along with the home console / PC gaming future that was just around the corner.

I actually have a DVD somewhere which is a total recreation of Dragon's Lair playable in a standard DVD player using the DVD remote control. It's pretty darn close to the original. All the graphics are identical and the control action is accurate. I wonder if this would function if ripped into iTunes / iPhone / etc??? I'll have to dig it up and give it a shot.

So what's your request for a return from the dead arcade game?

Galaga. That'd kick ass. It would be perfectly playable on an iPod too because all you'd have to do is scroll left and right with the wheel and press center to shoot.

Hellzyeah. Great post, because that would be my official second request.

If you haven't already, get one of those $20 Galaga controller things from WalMart or wherever and hook it up to as big a screen as you have.

There is nothing like playing Galaga on a projected 7' screen.

(and it would be great to carry around on my iPhone!)

Hear our prayers, :apple:!
