I've been considering 3 of them: Omnifocus, Things, & Life Balance.
Has anyone tried them?
How did you like it?
Do they all sync seamlessly to their mac desktop version?
Please help.
Thanks!

I tried both OmniFocus and Things but I would definetly suggest Remember the Milk, beautiful app, the sync is xtremely fast and it just works great

I second the above. I purchased Omnifocus, then ditched it for Things, and then ditched both for Remember the Milk and have never looked back. It truly is a very well thought out app with a fast and flawless sync to their website.

I read somewhere that Remember The Milk cost $25 annually. I'd rather pay for an app one time.

I suggest ToDo by Appigo, theres a review on my site. You'd have to create a free toodledo account but you could then be able to sync to the online app. It syncs quite quickly, and the interface is really quite great.

I second the Appigo To Do suggestion. I've used several others (including RTM's) and I find this one to be the best by a fairly wide margin.

I third the Appigo ToDo recommendation. I've been using it for a couple of months now and love it. The author is continually making improvements and adding features. I had bought three others, but they were all buggy or cumbersome, but ToDo has it together.

I was thinking about buying RTM but now that I now about Appigo's ToDo maybe I'll just buy that one. I've tried RTM and it's really good, but I'd rather not have to pay a subscription.

Still I'd love to get opinions from people who have used both.

I've used every task list available on iPhone - I'm a task list "junkie" and leaving behind the task list on my Treo for the iPhone was a big issue for me.

For me, no one beats Appigo ToDo right now. Omnifocus is too complicated. Only syncing Things via a wireless connection was inconvenient, and I found the iPhone version buggy (sometimes changes I had made to tasks reverted when I synced). RTM and Toodledo apps have nice clean interfaces on the iPhone, but require too many taps to edit task info, or use the iPhone "date picker" too much.

ToDo syncs with my (free) Toodledo account anywhere, anytime. The interface is clean, simple, quick to use, and as powerful as I need it to be. I've never had a task not sync or revert to a previous state when I do. And my one complaint - it used to display my "tomorrow" and "Next week" tasks all the time - has been fixed in the last version with the "focus" list that allows me to show just what I need to do today.

I can't recommend ToDo enough. And no - I don't work for Appigo and am not a beta tester. Just a big fan.

Thank you so much for your opinion, it was very helpful. :)

Used to use ToDo as my main app, and Todo is simple, easy to use, and problem-free. Great app.

Moved to SmartTime recently just cause I like seeing my events and tasks in one place. The upcoming updates promise some great features, and so I'd recommend SmartTime.

Toodledo has propietary Iphone App

Used to use ToDo as my main app, and Todo is simple, easy to use, and problem-free. Great app.

But how is this app diefferent from Toodledo's own iPhone Application? You would expect that it will integrate much better with their website....

Somebody has tried both?

From a thread here a week ago, and from Toodledo's recent update description, I gather that Toodledo is the first app to support subtasks, but that ToDo has subtasks in development.

I haven't tried Toodledo, just cause the reviews for Toodledo on Japan's iTunes haven't been as good as Todo's (3.5 stars to 4.5 stars). I also gather that subtasks require a Toodledo Pro account.

I've tried both. I find ToDo a better user interface. Both integrate well with the Toodledo site.

Omnifocus is true GTD that works

Hi guys,
After spending months trying many many different To Do type apps for my Mac and then iPhone, it finally clicked. I know that for some, the normal Task List apps work but there is a huge difference in terms of capability and how much they help your life between a task list and a true GTD app. It took me several weeks before I finally had that "Aha moment" and the difference is absolutely huge in terms of getting real control of tasks rather than just creating lists and actually "getting things done".

I found that I had to spend a little time reading David Allen's book or listening to the Audiobook (which is what eventually worked for me) and then I finally got it!! Task lists alone do not solve the problem it is a different approach but once you get it it is amazing. I'm a busy guy both at home and especially at work and can honestly say that the real GTD apps like Omnifocus are the only ones that really really work. I've personally found Omnifocus to work extremely well - I use it on my Macbook Air and on my iPhone and it syncs perfectly.

It does take a little more patience ie reading the book or listening to the audiobook but what you gain in control over your life is worth it. I've helped to train a few people at work and I've seen an amazing difference in their productivity.

Anyway, just my 2c but for those really wanting to gain control - I found the difference huge.

Cheers from down-under :)
Steve

Has anyone tried Life Balance both for iPhone and mac desktop?

Also, does OF and Things show events and tasks at the same time?

Thanks!

SmartTime does more, easier

Yeah I tried that GTD stuff but three things really bothered me. First of all, I don't want to have to read a book that teaches me how to organize things. Yes, I read up on it. No, I did not find any of it intuitive or helpful. Second, I just hate lists. I can do that with my pocket notebook. Third, having a task manager without a calendar just does not make sense. So I looked at all the other iPhone apps and SmartTime is the only one that has a calendar. But what's really unique is it finds time for you. It even tells you how much you can get done today. And tomorrow. The cream in the middle is that it's completely intuitive. At least for me. Not to take anything away from the others, but it's just apples and oranges. Actually, it's old bananas and new papayas.

Oh wait, almost forgot to answer Crissy's question. To my knowledge, SmartTime is the only one that shows tasks and events, and it's certainly the only one that shows them in one screen. You can view them in their "Smart" view or in a more traditional "Calendar" view.

See for that to have any chance at all of working you would need to enter in ALL of your daily activities into your calendar like:

12:00am to 6:00am Sleep
6:00am to 6:30am The three S's
6:30am to 6:45am Get dressed
6:45am to 7:15am Get "distracted" by your SO
7:15am to 7:30am Get dressed again
7:30am to 7:45am Grab coffee
7:45am to 8:15am Commute to work
8:15am to 8:45am Check email and reply to any urgent ones

Do you REALLY want to have to enter in that level of detail so an app can help you manage the rest of your tasks/events?

lol. My thoughts exactly. I only put things that are important. Assignment due dates, birthdays, when I'm at work and not what I'm doing at work, meetings....

Yeah, that bit of SmartTime I don't find very useful, but being able to see events and tasks in the same place just makes it so much easier than using two different apps for the same. I got the idea RTM has the same feature, and I'd go for that if I had multiple computers that I needed to see my events and tasks on, but I only use my iPhone for keeping track of events and tasks, and SmartTime does that quite well.

Sync with Cable??

I am just got an iphone 3g a few days ago (from Dubai, factory unlocked) and am struggling to find it useful without task and note syncronization. My problem is that I work for an international NGO and spend most of my time in places without access to cell phone data services so I am stuck syncing my Mac and iphone with the USB cable.

Do any of these apps (Things, ToDo or Omnifocus) sync using the iphone USB cable? I have also tried Evernote, but am not able to sync to the server due to the need for internet connectivity.

Any suggestions?

Jeff

Wirelessly posted (Mozilla/5.0 (iPhone; U; CPU iPhone OS 2_1 like Mac OS X; en-us) AppleWebKit/525.18.1 (KHTML, like Gecko) Version/3.1.1 Mobile/5F136 Safari/525.20)

No official apps can currently sync via USB as the API has no support for it, am not sure if any jailbroken apps do but I doubt it. Can you create an adhoc WiFI network from your mac? If so then at least Things and OmniFocus should be able to sync that way.
