Every now and then my machine will slow way down and hang up on Shutdown, and my apps like CS Photoshop will run very slowly. Macs used to do this in OS9 when Virtual Memory was on. After hanging for a good 2-3 minutes it will finally shut-down and restart and it keeps recovering 2 files called:

AOLTemp.html
pipUnixDomain (says exec or executable in the top left corner)

exec.jpg

I Googled the Unix file and can't find anything out. I was hoping one of our ultra savvy members might know what it is and how to correct or repair.

so whats in the file or is it 0kb? and do you run aim (sounds like that files for aim crash use)? These two could just be temp files that aren't properly deleted on shutdown, sometimes happens with iChat and recovering images from chats.

Yah the AOLTemp.html was 4KB and the UnixDomain file was 0KB...I dumped all my AIM preferences and application files, I don't use it much anyways...I will see if this helps...Everytime I have tried to install AIM in the past OS9 to Tiger OSX it has caused conflicts...Thanks...
