I've been tolerating the bugs and annoyances given this is a new launch but now my music is disappearing. Songs that I have instrumentals (remixes downloaded from soundcloud, etc.) are being replaced. Three songs that I have instrumentals to have been replaced with the official versions, even though it's titled as the instrumental. It's overwriting artwork too. It's merging remixes, and such in with the official album as well, another thing I don't want. And in some cases, my versions are replacing the version in the album and being being retitled to where it looks like the album version, and I can't find the originals in my iPod. It's a disaster.

Perhaps this isn't a problem for those who only deal with the iTunes Store but I download a lot of music/unofficial remixes from soundcloud and other sources and this is really frustrating. It's like it's trying to "match" and also replace, and I don't know why.

Another example of random craziness can be seen in the attachment below. The song in the player is listed as the song shown in search. I have no clue what that song is and it's certainly not something in my library. But tapping it plays the song shown in the full screen player. My library is a disaster.

And here's the cherry: that's not even the instrumental! It's been replaced by Apple with the official version.

Apple Music is trying to match what's in the cloud ie what's on Apple's server to your library. to get the originals back turn off icloud music library and resync your device with itunes. That should do it.

Can you give me a rundown on what exactly iCloud music does? It seems that it would be helpful but not with all of these problems.

I just want all of my own music, I want all of my added Apple Music stored on my phone, and I want it streaming on my desktop. I'd also like to know if there's a way to add music from the desktop and have it download on my phone for offline use without going through and tapping 'make offline' for every song I added via desktop.

So I guess that's two different questions, sorry, haha.

Edit: I don't think I want this off based on what this is saying.

icloud music is attempting to put your music in the cloud but if it doesn't find a match it's replacing what's there with an official Apple version. You can still use Apple music without icloud music library turned on. You just need to select make available offline for any songs you want to be able to play without a connection to the network. to have it streaming on the desktop you should be able to go through iTunes. Frankly I've always found Apple Music a very confusing thing all around.
