It's maybe something they should think about over here (UK.)
Normally the Christmas season gets off to a slow start late Nov/early December, the press are full of stories about how bad it is, then one retailer blinks and starts cutting prices and the rest follow suit.
If we had an official start to the Christmas season (they've been talking about making St Andrews day 30th Nov as a national holiday here in Scotland) it might make for a more stable Christmas period.
Personally, I don't start my shopping until Christmas Eve. At 4pm!
