I have an original Bose Sounddock and I was wondering what iPods or iPhones are compatible with it. I tried the iPod Touch 2g and although it played it didn't charge. The reason I'm asking is that I heard some horror stories of the dock possibly bricking iPhones due to a different pin configuration.

Can anyone shed any light on this? I'd hate to shelf the speaker as it produces truly excellent sound.

Found the following information on Bose's web site:

iPod® and iPhone® compatibility chart

The SoundDock® 10, SoundDock Portable, and SoundDock Series I and II systems are compatible with most iPod and iPhone models. If your iPod or iPhone is included in the following list, it will work with these systems.

iPod: 4th and 5th generation only

iPod nano®: All generations

Note: The following iPod and iPhone models will play audio on the SoundDock Series I system, but will not charge on that system.

iPod touch: 2nd, 3rd, 4th and 5th generation

iPhone: 3G, 3GS, iPhone 4 and iPhone 4S

iPod nano: 4th, 5th and 6th generation
