On the upper right hand corner of my MacBook Air, I see something for Display Link manager. What is that and do I need it?

IIRC, DisplayLink Manager is a tool for configuring DisplayLink-equipped hubs and docks. You would install this if you want to run more than the number of supported monitors on, say, an M2 MacBook Air, and have the appropriate dock supporting it. If you don't need this, you can get rid of it.
