Refurbished from Apple is basically synonymous with new from Apple. I have bought two macs and one iPad Pro refurbished from Apple. I couldn’t tell you what the difference is besides the box. If it didn’t say refurbished I’d say they are literally brand new.
Thanks!

The outer shell and battery on an Apple refurbished device is new. You also get full 12 months warranty coverage.

There is a reason why they sell out so fast.

I’ve always had great experience with Apple refurbished. Just don’t forget about the option of a “new” 2018 model as another option. The prices seem to heading down further for these in the past week in certain stores...as they try and clear out the previous models I suppose. I’ve seen ”new” 2018’s lower than Apple refurbushed 2018’s in some cases.

Where? I’ve looked everywhere and all I see is a $100 discount fromwhen they sold new. The 64GB IPP 2018 sells for $250 less than new, best deal by far.

Personally I’m waiting until I can find a 128GB 2020 IPP for $700, then I will jump. I want the extra ram and 128 is enough for me.

I was in the market for an 11 inch version so those were the ones I was focused on. I live in Atlanta where we have a ”Micro Center” store (an Authorized Apple dealer). That’s where I’ve seen the best deals.

For example: Prior to this week, they were selling the 2018 11 inch 256gb version of IPP for $699 (In store Only). This week, they dropped it to $629. I was lucky and able to get an “open box” of the same model that someone had bought/returned for $535. It was in pristine condition and was Manufactured in March 2020...so brand new. They also had a 2nd generation Apple Pencil ”open box” for $95....and I found a new charcoal Apple Smart Folio on clearance for $55. Total price for all 3: $685....roughly the same as the Apple refurbished price of $679.

So, there are some deals out there.
