The Dallas 'burbs
The Ripple Effect is some eye candy for users who have upgraded to Tiger and make use of the Dashboard. When you drop Widgets on the Dashboard there are graphics that make it look like you dropped the Widget into a still pond so you get waves/ripples across your screen.

The Dashboard is a repository for frequently used applications like calculator, weather trackers and other nifty little utilities. The utilities used are called Widgets. Dashboard is brought up via an Expose' like key stroke and when you are done all of the Widgets go off into hiding until you need them again.

Expose' is a method of switching between applications. When you activate it you can have all of the current application windows shrink down and displayed and you can select which window you want. You can also make it display all windows or the desktop.

Hope I didn't confuse things any more.

Wait until there is an update. Then buy a refurb of an older model. That's what I did.

An Apple certified refurb would be a great place to start. It will come with a one year warranty. I would recommend adding memory and getting AppleCare. That way you will get a full three years of warranty and a free phone call to Apple technical support.

I hope that you will decide to fold, it would be a great idea for you soon to be idling Windows machine.

That is what I actually might do. Because by August/September they ought to have an update.

I think I might get a refurb of a 12" or maybe even a 15".

Thanks for the tips.
