What is happening with the new MBP14/16?

Hello all,
I just browsed across Apple's website and everything says pick-up by June 21 and 0 in stock in my area with 2 big cities around. On the other hand, Bestbuy has handful of them and selling away with $250 discount. That sounds contradicting to me - to sell on a discount while the manufacturer is actually sold out.
I understand that China is experiencing another lockdown rn, but why offer such a compelling discount? Are they going to introduce something new really soon?

Sellers compete with each other too. Amazon also has a 10% discount.

They’re always discounted 6 months or so after release. Totally normal.

I am curious how other supply chains (Best Buy, Amazon) seem to have plenty but Apple has massive delays. Seems like they allocated too many units for other retailers?

I've been watching the Apple site for availability near me. Just a couple days ago they were available. Now, not so much. The lockdown in China has prevented restocking the stores. If you want one without waiting, you better be fast.

And I am not even talking about the open-box prices right now - base 16 is selling for $1800 near me open-box, which is like $500 discount from edu price and $700 discount from regular.
