I have a 2020 MacBook Pro 1.4 ghz with the 256 gb ssd. Just recently I started running out of storage space which was very surprising because until recently I lived very easily on 256 gb. In manage storage, I see that I have over 70 GB in Other.

Can someone tell me what that is? I've done an internet search and cleared out log files, caches, etc, but this has hardly made any dent in the 70 gb.

In case it helps anyone else, I figured it out in my case. I noted that Library/Updates was very large. On my computer, in settings/software it was setup to "Download new updates when available". I don't recall seeing this in Mojave. Anyhow - 10.15.7 was downloaded and sitting there. After installing the update, my Other space decreased to 25 GB which is more reasonable. I have turned off "download new updates".
