Serial Number

They are probably just decoding your Mac serial number incorrectly. If you enter your serial number at this web site they will give you more info. My MBA refurb was built in Aug. 08 according to that site.

Don't get too excited. Apple generates new serial numbers for some of their refurbs. I'm not sure what the criteria is. I'd guess that the old #'s are for machines that were returned to the store in good working order, while the new #'s may have had some work done.

Yeah, I figured. Why would they still be building old MBAs anyways? Plus, don't they use new cases for the refurbs? Can we even really tell when it was made since they'll put parts together like battery (used or new), new case, and inside parts of the true refurbs???

If you go to the coconutBattery preferences, theres an option to manually enter your mac's serial number.
