What are the average fan speeds for the 21.5" iMac?

According to iStat Pro...
(I am running, Safari [Facebook, MacRumors], Mac Messenger, iChat, Alfred and Growl)

Optical Drive - 998 - 999 RPM
Hard Drive - 1099 RPM
CPU Fan - 1199 RPM

Is this about right for my iMac?

Thanks.

Ok thanks, so when you load up a web page like facebook or youtube does it make a strangish noise too?

What kind of noise? When you open something, it might make a grumbling noise because the HD is accessed but that noise shouldn't be very loud

Yes, it is like a grumbling noise. And it's not really loud but you can hear it, you know.

nothing wrong with your iMac , sit down and relax and enjoy it ,
if you got a all in one computer with a harddrive you will always hear noise from the hardrive some a bit louder some a bit more quiet , but total silence ...not with a harddrive which has moving parts
if the harddrive grumbling is bothering you , take it out and replace it with a SSD then the grumbling is gone , and all thats left is a bit fannoise and a plus in performance

Desensiblization is the cheaper option after a couple weeks you will not notice it any more

sorry but you are not the first, and certainly not the last who gets a new computer and gets worried about any noise he is not used to
