I've been running QuickBooks accounting software on a 2016 MBA under Parallels>Windows 10 because QuickBooks for Mac does not support Canadian accounting practices/styles. I'm about to buy a 16'" MBP M1/M2 when they appear and it seems that my current configuration will not soon be supported by QB (presuming that I will need an AIM version).

(I still wish to run MS Excel under Parallels>Windows 10 just because Excel for Mac is SO short of features that the Excel (for Windows) versions have. I understand that both Parallels and MS Office have AIM versions.)

Can anyone please suggest what accounting software that will (may) run directly under the new silicon OS.

I wish i knew of a serious alternative to QB. I'm not a fan of that company or that product. But sadly, it seems to be about the only software that comes close to being full featured. I'd change in a heartbeat if i knew of a product that could match its features.

I was made aware of
When helping a person. I have no experience with it, just downloaded it to help solve her problem (it worked fine, it was a user mistake)

I use Quickbook Online everyday, and it works great. No good if you're not connected though, but with 5G becoming more commonplace, maybe not an issue.

Not that I've tried it, but what about Sage?

Well, why don't you use cloud version of QuickBooks then.
Problem which you are facing currently can easily be solved if you use QuickBooks hosting.

I know it's been awhile since your post, but just in case you're still looking....

I've been trying out SEE Finance: https://scimonocesoftware.com/
which I'll be switching to from Quicken 2017 when I get the new 27" iMac this Spring.
The program is written for M1 computers which, of course, Quicken 2017 isn't and I didn't want to go subscription
with Quicken. The program interface is very similar to Quicken and the price is very reasonable.

I don't know if they support Canadian Tax forms but I found them very responsive to my emails.

I asked them for a way to change the interface from dark to light mode as it's dependent on
how your overall OS is setup. They sent me a terminal command that changes the program to light mode
when the OS is set to Dark Mode. I found it much easier on the eyes in light mode.

In case anyone wants to try this program and wants to make that change here's the command:
defaults write com.scimonocesoftware.SEE-Finance-2 SCmacOSAppAppearanceOption -int 1

Quickbooks = company accounting. Quicken = personal finance. SEE Finance looks to be personal finance so not really an option to switch from Quickbooks.

IF this question is directed at ME, the reason is twofold. I am needing QB available where I often do not have internet access as I am working for a not for profit organization (church) which is most reluctant, and frankly would be too expensive to spend $80/mo for internet service just to use QB, PLUS the monthly fee QB would charge for their cloud version. Having the desktop not for profit version which can be used for three or four years and costing a couple of hundred dollars works better for us. Yes, perhaps the issue that you are thinking of is solved, but not mine.
