What is the best app for tracking time spent on projects?

Hi, I need to track the time I spend on several projects for my own record and also possibly billing the school that asked me to do the work. Ideally but no necessary with a calendar view. If possible, can be used in iOS and Windows. Any suggestion? Thanks.

I also am looking for this (if it is only for MacOS, iOS, iPadOS and WatchOS it would be enough for me)

Something simple with just a time tracking app, that runs in a background, if we it can be added a hour rate it would be perfect and add a few tasks.

I am also willing to pay for it one time, but please no subscription.

Everyone I am checking it, it has a subscription and some have free trial mode, but none are one time payment apps or free without adds apps.

Starting to get desperate and am thinking it writing itself and publishing it, however I dont have the time yet, but it is in the future if there is none that meets my simple criteria.

I dont think it would be that hard to program it.

Maybe Timelime? Using it since years. https://timelimeapp.com No Subscription, very robust and configurable. Export to Excel. But there is no hour rate setting.
