Currently waiting to purchase the 2018 macbook pro and later buy an ultra-wide monitor. As for connection it seems usb c to usb c is the best way but very few monitors have usb c and if they do they are extremely expensive. Based on my investigation the second best way to connect the macbook to a monitor is through usb c to display port since i wont be loosing 4k at 60hz. Is this my best bet especially if im on the hunt for a qhd ultrawide monitor for under 750 bucks?

USB-C, or DisplayPort is the best way. HDMI 2.0 is also a good choice if you can get the right adapter.

Your choices are Thunderbolt, DisplayPort, or HDMI. USB-C isn't a display connection, nor is it a data transfer protocol. USB-C only refers to a modern type of connector (the plug and socket). That physical connector supports a multitude of protocols.
