What is the best eBook reader for iPhone?

I've been using BookShelf but am really not very happy with it. Its easy to transfer text files over, but it can't read pdfs which is a major negative, and it can only load a few paragraphs at a time. The bookmark feature is also buggy.

I saw DataCase while browsing today's app releases and it seems interested and has fantastic reviews. Has anyone used it so far, and how is it as an ebook reader? can it make bookmarks?

Does anyone else have other recommendations for an ebook reader? I also have no interest in buying ebooks and just want to use the pdfs and text files I already have.

My primary reason for getting DataCase was to use it as an ebook reader for pdfs.

I think it's going to work out really well for that.

The only feature I'd like to see is a "tap anywhere" on the screen to advance to the next page.

For Datacase can you make bookmarks though? I don't see how it can work as an ebook reader without this feature

Another vote for eReader. I love it. I used it a lot when I had a Palm PDA and love the fact that I can read books on my iPhone. Plus, its free!

It cannot read PDFs. Only method of transfer is to visit a website from your iPhone (using the browser built into eReader) that has properly formatted books. If you can format your own books properly into an eReader compatible format you can upload them to your own private website, then visit and download them the way I described here.

They really need a Bonjour connection or even direct FTP.

On Datacase- I downloaded it today. You cannot place arbitrary bookmarks in your files, but it WILL remember and open to the last page you left off in a PDF for example. Good enough for me right now. A search feature would make it even better...

Does Datacase remember your place in html and Word doc files? I have very few pdf files, most of my reading material is in html, and a few in Word.

I have not tried yet, but I think that the developer's claim is that is does remember positions in all document types. If no one else can answer I'll try it later tonight.

I've used eReader since the good old Visor from Handspring days. Now its on my iPhone and the new update is even better. It's so nice to be able to read my favorite books on it. I'll skip the Kindle, why lug that thing around when everything we need can be on the iPhone/Touch. I hope they continue to update the app and allow us to buy direct from the iPhone, like the App store. It will probably bankrupt me if they do that.

Problem with eReader is as far as I can tell, it only reads a particular ebook format. Most of my reading material is in html. My ideal ebook reading program would strip out all the graphics from an html file while keeping font and line format info like bold, italics, header fonts, centering etc. Oh, and allow bookmarking or at least remember the last position I was in.
