What is the best unlocking software to date. PLEASE HELP ME

I only know of iliberty + and pwnage being good!

However i cannot seem to find the boot loaders i need and the .ipsw file for pwnage.

Please help i am going to buy an iphone, and i dont want to pay someone to unlock the iphone for me when they are probably going to be using ziphone.

There are links in the FAQ!

For the IPSW you can just connect your phone and click on restore and if the firmware is NOT on your computer already it will download it to the directory listed in the FAQ.

Likewise there is a link for the bootloaders in the FAQ.

To get the 1.1.4 IPSW file, upgrade your phone to 1.1.4 in iTunes, and then the file will be in ~/Library/iTunes/iPhone Software Updates

I agree i like how simple ziphone is but everyone is following pwnage, you can restore your phone to its original boot-loader so you can return your iphone if something breaks.
 
Dam thanks neo, now i have the boot loaders and i know how to get the.ipsw file i believe so i am ready to pwnage right ? i hope so
 
Did you READ the FAQ - the VERY FIRST POST at the top of the this forum section?

If you READ it you will have all the information you need.

If you don't then don't complain if you break your phone! as I can't make
it any easier than putting it all in writing for you in the FAQ!
 
NO sprin i read it and understand everything! I was just unsure about some of the links and i couldn't find some of the files. But everything should be good now.

Yep, you are ready. Pwnage gets all of the other files you need out of the original .IPSW file and patches them for you.

Just make sure you already have 1.1.4 on your phone before you pwn it or it will fail.
 
so now that i know exactly what to do and i have the files i am going to get rid of this sidekick lx and get the iphone. Either buy it new or off craigslist, i am thinking new for the warranty. or should i really wait for the 3g i am going to be using it on T mobile.
 
Whilst we are happy to help people out sometimes there is a complete lack of doing any research for yourself obvious and that is annoying!

You won't get a warranty UNLESS your activated on AT&T - so if I was you I would buy a new phone so its less likely to have been messed up by someone else!

As for the 3G phone that could come out anytime between June and Christmas - even if it is announced in June it does not mean it will be out immediately.

And then of course a new phone will require the DevTeam to find new ways to hack it and it may take weeks to months for that to happen so even if you waited for a 3G iPhone there is no guarentee you can use it on another network EVER! although I am sure eventually you will be able to!
 
I used PWNage to do it all to my phone. Worked great in the USA and now I'm back in Taipei and it works great here.

But yes, do a search through the forums. Any question you most likely have has been asked before. I did that when I was looking to unlock my phone and I found all the info I needed.
 
My last question which i have researched is how come my restore file i downloaded does not look like a lego cube like in the pictures!

Locating the .ipsw file, looks like a lego cube, mine is just multiple folders
 
Because it is a glorified Zip file and if you click on it your computer shows all the files.

If you ask me your doing this the WRONG way.

BUY THE IPHONE!

Plug it in. Put phone into recovery mode. Click on restore. iTunes will download the CORRECT firmware. Disconnect your phone BEFORE iTunes finishes.

Then open pwnagetool. select your restore file itunes just downloaded (its in user/library/itunes/iphoneupdates). Click on "ipwner" Phone will restart back to activation screen if its a new phone. Put into recovery mode again.

Click on "IPSW builder" select unlock, update baseband, neuter and activate and custom images. Click on create IPSW.

Now ctrl+ restore in itunes. Select the custom IPSW and let phone restore.

And its done.

Its easy.

BUY THE PHONE THEN IF YOUR CONFUSED YOU CAN ASK MORE!

well if i was to buy an iphone from someone who had it activated and now they dont use it and took there sim card out. Could i buy it a pwnage it. Unlock it and activated it?
 
Ok i ordered new iphone, got a 15 % discount not bad my buddy works at the apple store.
So my question after i get the iphone do i need to let itunes automatically update the firmware, example if my phone came with something lower then 1.1.4.

or

Do i put my iphone into recovery mode and download then 1.1.4 and then quit before it finishes. Then start the pwning process.

Basically i am just confused on whether or not i need to have the 1.1.4 installed on my iphone before i pwn it. And if i have 1.1.4 installed on my iphone already, i would still have to download the 1.1.4 firmware i am guessing so i can pwn it??

Please help i am confused and my ipohne will be here soon and i want everything to go smoothly.

My questions may be stupid but i need help, i cannot afford to fail

PWNAGE VS ILIBERTY+ WHATS THE OVERALL BEST

I mean i have read a lot of places and everyone agrees that pwnage is the best. I seems fairly simple, i have the bootloaders and i know how to get the .ipsw file. I hope the bootloaders i have a correct i got them from iclairified.

Liberty seems easy to use, i dont understand all the payloads and utilities stuff. But i have been studying pwnage, and i have not given liberty much thought.

My iphone is on its way straight from the apple store, and i have to unlock the iphone with no problems as its going to be the only phone i will have at the time.

I want to be able to use wifi and the web and you tube and have the installer app!

SO TELL ME WHAT YOU THINK

just used pwnage, very easy to use with the guides provided. very easy to install apps if your a noob (which i very much am when it comes to this stuff). so far its been very stable, very easy to use, and i've loved it!
