I don’t really know much about used printers, but you can never really go wrong with buying a laser printer. My old HP something from 20 years ago still connects to macOS without issues. Toner never runs out, the thing never clogs up, prints are sharp and great for text.

You do not indicate type of printer (inkjet or laser). There are several inkjet that you can get new under $100. I personally like Epson's inkjets, but Brother, and HP has several nice ones. You can find some Brother or HP laser used for under $100 but the cost of the toner cartridges tend to be as much if not more expensive than the printer. I had the HP2700n color laser for over 20 years but new toner was costing +$300 so I recycled it.
