I currently have an macbook pro, an time capsule, an iPhone and probably an iPad soon.

currently i stream movies from an external drive connected to my time machine to my macbook pro. and i use AirVideo to stream from that same drive to my iPhone.

my goal: the easiest way to stream movies to my macbook, my iPhone, my iPad and my tv. i would also like airplay.

what would i need?

AirVideo Cons: no Full HD

Mac mini cons: no airplay.

your help is greatly appreciated, thanks!

The best solution is a Mac Mini that sit underneath your TV. You put all your movies on it (attached by an external drive if you need it) and organize the media using Plex (plexapp.com). Leaving the Plex media server open, all your media will be available to every device you own on your home network, or even on the internet if your connection is fast enough.

Yes, your macmini can have airplay. I do it now with mine. There is a program called AirServer for like $4.99 that turns your mac into an airplay server. www.airserverapp.com Check it out on YouTube, I actually just picked it up yesterday and its been really nice so far.

Especially since I have no cable service at all, I can airplay CNN videos from my phone to my TV when I get home or in the morning!
