Hi, it looks like there are two ways. The first way is to just treat photos and videos as normal files. The other is to import them to app such as Synology Photos. Which is the best way? If I backup the photos and videos to Synology Photos, will I still be able to access individual files from an iOS device or computers? Once I have move the photos and videos to the NAS, I will delete them from my iPhone and iPad as they are almost full.

I hope you have 2 other backups due to the recommended 3-2-1 strategy.

There actually quite a few ways to do backups to a NAS. I use Carbon Copy Cloner to backup Mac media. Keeping you photos on the NAS only will preclude you from seeing them off-site unless you want to take the risk of allowing offsite internet access.

Is it much easier to do it from a Mac? These days I only use Windows PC.

I took out an old Mac. For strange reason, I cannot login to DSM from my MacBook Pro 2010. Not sure if it is because Safari is too old. Any idea?

The NAS is for home network use only.

Since you posted on a Mac, rather than a Synology or PC forum, the assumption was that you were using a Mac.

Adding a Mac to the equation would just make things harder.

Try another browser on your Mac to connect to the NAS.
