I've emailed them to myself, but I want to be able to access them with zero network connectivity. Is there a good reader or a way to just load them into the iphone and use them within a kindle like device?

Mail messages are stored locally, so you should be able to access your attachments without any network connectivity.

That said... I use the application called "FileMagnet," which lets you transfer files between Mac and iPhone.

Good Reader is the best for large PDFs like ebooks, or PDFs with high res graphic content. If they're relatively small files, then there's a lot of other apps that would do the job. Depends what functionity you need. You could use something like QuickOffice or Docs2Go if you want an app that also does document editing, or Apple's own MobileMe iDisk app if you use their service. There's loads of them out there, just do a search in iTunes.

All I want to do is load the files on my iPhone so I can read them regardless of connection. I'll try emailing them, but I could swear I've had issues getting to them with no connection.

i have just been using safari. then again you said 0 network connectivity so i guess that wouldn't be applicable.

for everyone else, just zoom in to what you want it to pick as the icon and then map the bookmark to your home screen with the "+" button

I use a free app called fileaid. If you want to send the PDF over USB you need to buy there desktop program (on a mac) but if you are willing to send the file over your wireless connection they give instructions involving a free desktop app called cyberduck. I've been using that combo pretty successfully so far, though one PDF I sent over does crash fileaid, so it's not perfect. It is however, free. =)

The thing I didn't like about FileAid was that you can't email the files. They don't give that option.

Haven't had the need yet, but that is good to know. Then again, if you are in a no network environment... =) Also if you are desperate you can always take screen shots and send those! :D

I'll try fileaid. I am sort of opposed to paying for an application that will allow what should be completely basic functionality. It's a real shame Apple won't just allow you to drag/drop files onto an iphone.

Same, that is why I was about to delete FileAid until I realized cyberduck was free.

wow fileaid works perfectly, I had a few books in .pdf format that I was thinking about putting onto my iphone. With Fileaid and Cyberduck it took less then 10 minutes to get everything on there. Very impressed.:)

I have some huge PDFs that not only do I need to read without network, I need to be able to search.

I am very happy with: aji annotate

The only thing that it doesn't do is search for multiple keywords, ie. "multiple keywords" and I've asked for that feature to be added.

EDIT: Looks like the product has split... annotate is really only necessary if you want to add or "annotate" your PDFs... there is a cheaper $.99 Aji Reader @ http://jbrink.net/reader/index.html
