You’re getting conflicting reports, because Apple has _not_ confirmed the 2019/2020 return period. I would wait like a week, then you’ll have your answer direct from the source itself. Plus, macRumors will also report it on a front page article.

The holiday return period started 11/15 and goes until 1/8. Confirmed in the Apple store I purchased my 16" from on 11/15 and return date on my receipt is 1/8/2020.

on the receipt it says 8 jan 2020

but i also bought iphone online but on 15th so wondering if that can be returned in jan

Yeah, it appears that if you’re purchasing things in store, it’s already listing the holiday return date on the receipt. But I don’t think Apple has made anything official about it yet, which I would expect probably this week sometime we should see a headline about that.
