What is the difference between 2.53 and 2.66 ghz mac mini

Im in the market for a new mac mini and I was wondering if there was a significant speed difference between the 2.53 and 2.66 ghz versions. Also, I want to buy the model that has 4 gb of ram , 320 gb hard drive and I was wondering if this model came with a mini dvi to dvi cable included in the box? Or do i have to buy a minidisplay port to dvi cable... thanks :apple:
 
can i connect a dvi to hdmi cable to the mini dvi to dvi and get an hdmi quality picture.... i do have a 1080p monitor
 
watch for the different ports to use as they vary on later ones you have to use the mini display port instead of the dvi port to connect to tv
a the main difference is a very slightly faster processor and it cost more
 
ya thats about all i wanted ...o by the way im connecting it to a 27 inch hp monitor instead of a tv... will it show in 1080p if i use a dvi to hdmi... even though im using a dvi source from the mini dispaly port
 
thats a tricky question , it all depends on the resolution but it should play it
without to much trouble but i think you need to use the mini display port for a higher resolution
 
I hope you're not planning on doing any gaming with this machine. Video playback is fine however.

using it through hdmi will give you the available hdmi res's for the screen you have attached. Which sometimes will not be all if your screen doesn't play nice.

What are you planning on using it for?

I have the slower one, but other than hdd and cpu speed the video capabilities are the same.... which is to say piss poor. It's still better than the intel graphics, but playing games like COD4:MW is like playing in molasses.

But things like full HD playback is fine.

The difference is those CPU speeds won't make a hell of a lot of difference for the money. hell it wont make a lot of difference full stop.

*edit* even if you're using the mini display port it will output 1080p

I was using 1080p through mini DP to hdmi, but the tv i was using didn't play nice and would clip off some of the image, so I ended up going mini dvi to vga and it works flawlessly at 1080p. so mini dvi to hdmi will be fine so long as your screen plays nice.

The only thing mini dvi won't do it give you resolutions above 1920x1200. which is fine as 1080p is really 1920x1080

The current generation minis that he's looking at come with both mini-DisplayPort and mini-DVI.

Only the mini-DVI to DVI connector comes in the box, but there are options to convert either connector to HDMI at monoprice.com, etc.
 
actually for world of warcraft and dragon age origins the mini plays fine as long a u dont turn the settings up i was getting 62 fps with mine in dalaran at half settings
