What is the latest on activating iPhone without a phone plan

There were a few threads on how to activate the iPhone without an AT&T plan or contract. I have lost track of them.

What is the best, true and trusted method to use the iPhone over Wi-FI only without a cell plan. I would of course want to use the iPod part of it as well. I do not need EDGE and I do not need cell service.

AFAIK it is the DVD Jon method. Installing his server, editing iTunes with a HEX Editor and changing some values.

If you look under activating at the top, it lists different methods, including all the methods that don't require you to fake an iTunes account or have two iPhones, etc.

Thanks folks. DVD Jon method worked. Just half an hour of work. Follow the procedure here: http://iphone.simbunch.com/

One thing to note is a) upgrade to the latest itunes b) In steps 11 thru 17, to overwrite values, do not just type over, use the Edit->overwrite and choose the Hex option.

As with others, everything works except youtube.
