What is the least complex way to setup a server on my mac mini?

I have OS X Server, and it seems way more complicated than I thought it would be.

I'd basically like to work on websites from my laptop or my mac mini.

MAMP works GREAT but it can only be on one computer at a time (as far as I can tell).

Anyone out there point me somewhere? I've posted a few threads like this with ZERO responses. : (

understandably you need help, but maybe some more beef to the title and question can "help" you.

I run osx leopard server and simply following the install procedure is sufficient to get things going. This osx release also has mySQL included so its real smooth.

There are numerous video tutorials to guide you thru the install process.

If you need a basic php/mySQL setup on a mini so that you can build & test websites you may not need osx server. Just find and install mySQL and check if PHP is not already installed on your mac mini.

Ok, I'll admit that title is bad but I tried this one on Apple's Communities under "Mac OS & System Software": "One MAMP for 2 computers?"

I have MAMP on my macbookpro and my mac mini. If I'm working on a websit called yummmycupcakes.com then all my local files are on my macbookpro. If I want to work on yummycupcakes.com on my macbook mini, I CAN'T because all my local files are on my macbookpro.

I'm not 100% sure what you're trying to do here, but if you want to login and work on a server remotely, then I'd try SSH. It's certainly not complex. You can use scp to transfer necessary files to and from the server.

And what does that have to do with MAMP?

If you're writing a letter on your Macbook Pro, and then decide to finish it on your Mac Mini, you've the same problem. The problem isn't your editor...
