I do not have Apple Music I use iTunes Match, and usually just stream in random mode (unlimited data). I do not keep music on my phone. Noting shows in the widget, what is supposed to show?

It shows most recently played music. You can tap the images to start playing.
That's actually pretty handy. I use Launcher to keep a list of my favourite tracks which I can access via the notifications shade and this would be a most welcome addition as well.It shows most recently played music. You can tap the images to start playing.
Now I see. I only play songs in random order. I just played an album and now that shows. I guess only for albums.
