What is the weird lens looking dot / sensor on my iPad 3G

For anyone else who has noticed, what is the small spec / lens looking thing right where the iPhone earpiece would be (if that iPad were an iPhone).

It's an iPad 3G, if that matters. Got it today.

It's the light sensor. It changes the screen brightness if you have Auto-Brightness turned on.

Just wondering. It wasn't labeled in the iPad guide picture thing.
