<shrug> You have a phone plugged in, it can't talk to it, it wants to install the connector to allow it to talk to the phone. Why won't people read?

??????? But they are communicating just fine, so what you say is manifestly non-factual. Besides, that doesn't look like an Apple message to me, and neither my laptop nor my iPhone Update functions include this. It pops up at random intervals. The special characters make me wonder whether this is malware.

I have no intention of installing ANYTHING that I'm not sure of. But I'd love to get rid of this pop-up.

No, what posguy99 said is absolutely correct. I had the same window a week ago, did the requested download (it took about 3 minutes) and have not had a problem or seen that window since.
