Recently went to an Apple Store and saw this adapter laying on the counter. Looks like a Genius Bar tool. Anyone know what it is?

Definitely something that isn't available to consumers as of now. Is that an aux port?

Looked too small to be AUX, the other side where the Lightning went into the adapter had no holes (just a flat end)

I remember when my iPhone 8 Plus I had at the time, the screen was completely cracked and actually screen and LCD came off the phone, which rendered it useless but it still powered on. And this is what the used to pull info from your device, which can then send the serial number off to Apple database and indicate that it is a live serial number and that it's still on customer's hand.
