What is this menu bar icon?

Does anyone know what this icon implies? While this icon is visible, my keyboard and trackpad are non-responsive.

It appears infrequently and unpredictably. If I wait, it disappears on its own and the keyboard & trackpad return to normal functionality.

Any ideas?

Thanks for that. I turned off "Allow your pointer and keyboard to move between any nearby Mac or iPad" on my MacBook Pro. Hopefully that will prevent it happening unexpectedly in the future.
