I sync my iphone with my computer every few days, and last night I synced it just like normal with no problems, but when I tried to sync it today this error popped up in itunes.

"This iPhone cannot be used because the Apple Mobile Device service is not started."

What should I do? I haven't done anything different at all, what is going on?

Apple Mobile Device service is a service that runs in Windows.

If you go to your task manager and click on processes or services it will tell you if it running. It is running on mine right now. Trying restarting iTunes. Failing that, reboot and start iTunes. If that still does not work, uninstall and reinstall iTunes.

It's nothing to do with your iphone, it's something iTunes for every mobile device, iphone or ipod. If it's not running, something is wrong on the iTunes side.

Thanks for your help!

I had to go into the services menu, find that service, and click start this service. I had to do it a couple of times, but now it works fine.

Thanks again, glad I didn't have to re-unlock the phone.
