As I need a Mp3 player in a time sensitive manner I will be buying a new iPod nano 16GB in the next few days! Soon before the big unveiling of the new line. I'm concerned about what the new line of iPods might look like.

Will the value of my iPod drop suddenly in the next couple of weeks?

What type of features am I missing out on? I really like the current design of the iPod nano. I don't think I would want one that was a touchscreen only, or which was smaller. I've been reading that the new nano is going to be smaller, I don't think I would want that.

I would be interested in a cheaper per GB price (more space less cost), and a better camera.

I'm going to be buying one of these 5th generation iPod nanos anyway. I just wonder because it seems like there is so little information available about the upgrades.

We never know what Apple is coming up with so it's impossible to say what you're missing out. There will be an event on September 1st so can't you wait few days? Also, you can return it within 14 days after purchase so technically you could buy now and then exchange it for a new one if it has something you like.

Haha no, I can't. The 1st is the day I need to already have one because it is the day I am leaving on my trip.

But that is very interesting about the 14 day return policy.

iPod Nano

Apple NEVER releases info prior to a product release. Hasn't happened, most likely will never happen. So you won't get info. There is a chance the new Nano line will be cheaper than the previous one (if I recall correctly, the 5th Gen Nano's where cheaper than the 4th). You can wait or you can buy the 5G. My suggestion would be to wait and see what they announce. I'm sure you can wait 4 days. If you don't like the 6th Gen there will most likely still be 5th Gens left on the markets. For some stores it takes weeks to sell out of the previous generation.

EDIT: If you are going on a trip maybe you could borrow one off of a friend? Or if not just buy one now.

The new nano can be very different from the old ones according to the rumors. You could be surprised. But since you state that you need one on 09/01, you have no other option than buy an old one I suppose.

Will the value of your new item drop? Yes, obviously.

The new rumored device is a shuffle replacement, something new. Not the new Nano. The new Nano WILL be upgraded though. For the same price as the one you're about to buy.

Well, I guess your only option is to buy a current 5G nano at a store that has return policies, I'm suggesting Walmart to buy a new nano because they don't have a restocking fee and it's 15 days I believe. So when your done with your trip you can return it for a full refund.

Or ... if you like the current design ... buy it. I mean, you don't really "lose" money here as you are buying a product that both fits your desires and your needs. If you are more concerned about having the "newest", well, that's a different issue.
