What is triple click?

The instructions for using an application states to triple click. What is triple click? My Mac Studio is running Sonoma. I've used Mac OS for years and embarrassed to say I have never heard of triple click! How do I triple click? I am using a trackpad. Do I need a mouse to triple click? BTW a Google and YouTube search yields no useful information.

If triple click is supposed to work with a mouse and not just a trackpad, then it means clicking three times within a certain time period, same as a double click.
