Hi all,

I have got a new imac and essentially it is working well however if the computer goes to sleep or i do not use Safari for a while the following happens:

Click to open Safari and it states Not connected
I click on Network Diagnostics
Choose Network port config - Airport
I select the wireless router - Livebox
It then requires the password that i have typed in many times before
I tick remember key chain
It then says "appears to be working"
I quit and job done.

So why do i have to keep putting the password (WEP) in?

In the Network Preferenc Pane, under AirPort, change the setting to Connect to preferred network, and you should then be able to edit the connection, enter your WEP key there and save. I would also suggest waiting when waking from sleep, as it usually take about 30-60 seconds for the computer to reconnect naturally.

30-60 secs is a bit long, but yeah you should wait.
Just watch the WiFi icon, wait for it to show black bar and give a few seconds to be safe.

My MB and MBP clock at about 5-10 seconds to be fully on-line from sleep.

Just checked it again, woke it from sleep and the airport ikon was black, great i thought it has worked but within a couple of seconds it went grey, so no signal. Went to make a cup of tea came back no connecting, do the diagnosis and have to put in the wep again.

In your preferred networks list, do you have more then one router listed? If there are multiple, it may be bouncing between them even if one is very weak.
