Hey there,

I need to find a good setup for sharing photos with my aging parents who are using Mac and iPad. I am not interested in sharing my photos with the world - this is just to keep parents updated about my life, and maybe have other people in an inner circle update me about their life.

I am right now considering both Lightroom and Aperture as my organization system, but I am not locked down on any. How well the library app plays with the sharing service is a big point in my decision.

I have heart about Adobe Revel and it seems interesting, albeit expensive if you are going with a paid plan. Of course, there is photostream as well, but I am interested in your setups as well. What are you using to share your photos with your inner circle?

Thanks!

I usually do most of the work in Lightroom. Once I'm done, I export the pictures with different presets:

- One for printed pictures (full resolution)
- Preset for 1080p, I export them to iPhoto which is used to play back from the apple tv or any ios devices.
- I can export to facebook from within LR

That's about it.. it works well

Normally I post to Facebook...but for more intimate sharing I have tried Flickr recently. You can send out links for certain people and leave them not OPEN to everyone.

I use Apple's Aperture. it has a nice setup to easily upload your photos to Flickr.

Now...mainly i just let them viewable to everyone. It started when i wanted to post and let people see some photos but didn't want to upload the whole set to Facebook. I shoot a lot.

Not sure if a Shutterfly Account could work. My wife and I can use the same info and log in on iphones/ipad and different computers. Might not have a nice showcase though.

since your parents do own iOS devices and macs I think it's the easiest way to share via a shared photostream. It is integrated and easier to access than the other solutions, I think.

My sister and I share such a shared photostream with my mum and she enjoys it very much. I don't think she would get along with dropbox or flickr because with photostream she just gets a push notification and there are the new photos - end of story!

Thanks, I think I will give photostream another try.
