So I finished [trying to] game in windows, rebooted in OS X, I believe I started up my usual apps, mail, adium, safari, and iTunes, and I was just about to go when the computer crashed. No KP, the screen just went blank. The little white light was still on (it was in clamshell mode). I opened the 'book, and the white light dimmed, but the internal screen was just as dead as my external one. I killed it and rebooted, (it took forever btw) and now spotlight's re-indexing my Time Machine drive.

Can anyone tell me what's going on here?

MBP C2D non-sr, 1.5gigs of ram, running in clamshell mode.

I think this is where it happened...

The same thing happened to me last week (MBP 2ghz Core Duo). Just froze up, no explanation, and I had to turn off the machine by holding the power button. I didn't even think of looking in the console so I have no idea what caused it. It hasn't happened again so I haven't even thought about it.

So you reckon it was your astrology dashboard client? :)

Nahh, I've used that widget for, well, since I got this computer. That's just the log from around the time it crashed on me.

I don't know what to make of it, but everything's working again, I was just wondering if anyone had any leads as to why it would do this on me.

mine just did this. One second, I'm surfing the net, the next my mac completely froze. After doing a hard restart, it booted to a blank screen while the keyboard light still seemed to work. Zapping the pram got it working again. I just hope my hardware isn' t failing!

I think it's great that when a Mac crashes it's cause for a forum post trying to guess what might have caused it, but when a windows PC crashes it's just business as usual. Says a lot about the stability of the Macintosh platform I think. I love these things!

Well it kinda looked like Dashboard and possibly the astrology client in the first log. If it happens again, post up the resulting log here and we'll see if we can get any further. :)
