I just tried the GBoard and like the feel but for some reason, it seems like I can’t type as accurate or as fast.
Nothing comes close to the reliability and ease of use of the stock keyboard. I've tried heaps of third party offerings and they usually end up getting deleted within minutes.
Are third party keyboards able to access quick reply on the lock screen yet?

I used to use swiftkey, but I'm getting annoyed with 3rd party keyboards not performing well, so I simply use the default iOS keyboard. I'm trying to get into the habit of not installing any extra stuff that is duplicating the stock OS.
One annoying thing though, I thought Apple announced somewhere that iOS keyboard is smart enough to detect the use of another language while using a different language keyboard (I think it was demoed how one can type a mix of English and German language while on regular English keyboard), but I never see that happening in my real case. Am I missing things or simply had a wrong recollection?

Well, I LOVED my ASK on my previous generation 12.9, but have yet to bite the bullet on the new Apple keyboard folio.
While I was in between my 12.9 and 11” pros, and using a 6th generation iPad, I bought a cheap, Omoton keyboard that resembles the keyboard from an iMac. Honestly, it does the job for under $15. I have my iPP in an inexpensive case (also under $15), and I keep it in a stand when on my desk (yep, another $15ish purchase) so it’s elevated to a good viewing level.
When I need to take my iPP with me (as was the case with the 6th gen), I can just pick it up from the stand, flip the cover over the screen, and throw it in my purse.
Right now I feel like I have the best of both worlds; using it with ease at my desk, and having it as light and portable as possible for on the go!

Well I feel pretty stupid.
Honestly never thought of using anything other than the regular onscreen keyboard for that, so it never even occurred to me that’s what this was about.

Stock keyboard most of the time. I have installed GBoard for typing in multiple languages but don't use it often. Swiftkey is also installed but don't use it, I find typing with the stock keyboard is much faster especially with next word prediction.. so much so that even while working on work computer, I type first few letters and wait for autocomplete word prediction to appear only to realize it's not iOS.
Only thing I find missing from the stock keyboard is a clipboard manager for copy-pasting multiple entries. Microsoft had introduced such a feature in their experimental keyboard on iOS but they removed the app from Appstore after purchasing swiftkey.
