Keyboards and mice are like socks...or pants...or pillows...
Use whichever one you find to be the most comfortable.

It's a pretty personal decision.For a media centre (or HTPC) where you may need to couch surf then I use Apple's keyboard and trackpad in the Hengedock Clique.

That they don't die on a cleaning action with a humid cloth.
Apple keyboards can't be cleaned, yet they need it most as they are white.
I just get a cheap Logitech, 20 bucks for the keyboard, 5 for a mouse.
Not much of a benefit spread over the years.
I have had a small form wired Apple keyboard for about five years. I like it to use and the USB ports are handy.
I am on to my third mouse in that time, and am currently using my second basic wired Logitech, bought late last year. I don't know what brand the one in between was, but it didn't last long.
Cleaning my Apple keyboard has never been a problem with a cloth that is just a little damp rather than humid.
Cleaning the old style (plastic) Apple keyboard was a hassle. I didn't like using the thing much anyway, and it had USB 1.1 ports, so I got the new one.
Even when soaking, the water is not the problem. The keys are just unable to stand any friction, and die mechanically, not because of moist. I think it is even better to totally soak it so the dirt comes of without friction, and then let it dry for a few days. But the thing is the keyboards are damn fragile, type like crap and are bloody expensive. And they are white. White keyboards suck.
Huh, and yet my Apple keyboard is still working fine years later...
But, water? Who cleans electronics with WATER?

Well its to sad that apple does not release their keyboards with black keys and backlight so I got recently ''logitechs K810'' which is great.
Its too sad also that they do not have a black or aluminium version of magic mouse with an actual wheel. At the moment I am using ''Microsofts bluetooth notebook 5000'' which is really comfortable and will replace it soon with ''logitech anywhere mx'' mouse.
All those are going together with Asus ZenDrive and Asus MX239H monitor.

Looks like I'll be going with Logitech K811, aluminum, lid keys, I wish I could find mouse build into a keyboard like Lenovo keyboards do, used it and loved it.
Mini will be used primarily with my projector in family room for watching moves, browsing web on 106" screen, music, photo etc.

For an HTPC is it possible to get a wireless remote control? I used my iPod Touch to control via HippoTunes (VNC) over WiFi but prefer to use a Windows RC1 dog-bone style IR remote. BTW, my HTPC is Linux-based but I have no need to use a mouse or a keyboard with it and haven't for 3 years.
