Is there a general number or different for what app it is ?

i’d think the basic of basic could get by with 2 or 3 mbps download . i’ve played some games that need more than 150ish to run smoothly

pretty much a blanket response would be “any internet” speed . your emails might take 10 minutes on a potato, or seconds with decent LTE

Games never need more than 1mbps usually less. What they need if online is latency.

Downloading game can be a different story. But to actually play an online game takes up very little bandwidth.

Apps can work with dial up internet speeds. It’ll be slow but it’ll work. There’s no speed requirement. Just need actual data.

Depends on if you’re in a hurry or not and what you’re downloading. I know that 115 kilobits per second is mostly unusable. A 56 kbps dial up modem was the fastest thing available in the past - with 33kbps typical download speeds - but nowadays that speed is essentially unusable on today’s internet.

I'm sure there have been exceptions for me but I can't tell when I have 10mbps or 150mbps on my iPhone. Generally what is frustrating is uploads with iMessage occasionally. Its mostly an issue because I'm staring at the loading bar.

Try downloading speedtest on your phone beforehand and run a test in places with bad connection. You'll probably notice that when the network has 1 "stick", the speed drops to 1mb/s or maybe lower, it depends. That speed could be considered usable, but it would take a lot of time to load something,

Minimum requirement for WhatsApp voice call is 64kbps. Normal bitrate for streaming Spotify is 96kbps. So around 100 to 200kbos will already allow you to stream music or make voip calls. The issue on mobile is usually ping, as cellular connection tends to have higher ping than landline due to obvious reasons. That will translate the responsiveness of the web from the user’s perspective.
