What Konfabulator Widget would you like to see written?

Personaly, Konfabulator has only recently started to get useful, with traffic reports (Still Japan only), Weather (Weather+), and Flight tracking.

I'd like to see one that grabs info on Windows bug reports. Yeah, I know, not overtly useful, but when one considers I've the only Mac in my company, and have a reasonably open-minded CIO...

I dunno.

Could they make something that works as a tracking program connected to a database which would track and graph trends in the stock market? Or even in the commodities or Foreign Exchange markets?

They probably already have something like those. But it would be cool if someone created one that tracked these things and gave ideas about how the currency moved in response to international news and events, and the economic health of different countries.

This is a good question... maybe the developers of Konq should have pondered over it before they started writing it.

"Let's make an app that can run these neat widget things that sit on your desktop and have transparency and stuff!"

"OK! What could we do with it?"

"Hmm... I don't know!!"

"OK!"

You forget the next 2 lines:
'Cool lets get started, OKAY!... but what about developers?'

'we can worry about people making there own apps later, we have to make this thing now!'

hopefully when text input is impemented in the next release, we'll see some far more usefull widgets. there will also be a greater ability to hook widgets into back-end unix scripting. one of the plans is to make a widget that relies on perl scripting to give you a new mail alert without having "mail" open. it will also open up opportunities for more dynamic widgets. what i'd like to see is a widget that lets you send cell-phone text messages like the front-page of nextel's site.

I worked on a project in a similiar vien this for about a year and let me tell you to correlate and visualize massive datasets like that you need a lot more than a "widget." All the data would have to compiled and warehoused, pre-processed for the widget and then redistributed - very expensive. Unless of course you want to work of smaller datasets that are given out freely like in RSS feeds but then the validity of any correlative visual data will be spurious to say the least.

Not trying to poop on a good idea, just sharing some lessons learned.

Thanks! It's always a good learning experience.

Thanks! This makes a lot of sense. It's always a good idea to know what is going on. Me, I'm really ignorant about Widgets but would love to see Apple create a killer app that could help push it ahead of the PC market. I don't know how that will happen, but hopefully it will. Thanks for the feedback. I always learn on this rumor site from the people who give me feedback.

:D

Perhaps a nice, attractive, small widget that feeds MacRumors site and subscribed forum updates. It would alleviate the need to check for e-mail updates on threads, as well as stopping us from checking the site when there's no new page 1 or 2 news. Something like an RSS feed widget for the site and forums. Just a thought... :)
