I own both generations of Apple silicon MacBook Airs but I only use the M2 MacBook Air. I didn't want to sell or trade in my M1 MacBook Air until I had used the M2 MBA for a while. New designs sometimes have issues. The M2 MBA has been perfect though so I will probably sell my M1 MBA sometime in the near future.

I don't think you need years with these; just model/size and chip; the poll options are off as its missing the 16" M1-Pro and there was no 2020 Touch Bar M1.

Reiterating Darngooddesign: OP, There is no 2020 M1 MBP 16" with a touch bar. And gotta list all the M1 and 2 machines at minimum.

Out of curiosity, how much do you notice the speed difference in M2 vs M1 day-to-day?

It definitely feels a bit faster on my main work tasks which right now is writing ReactJS code and deploying it on an embedded system. That means running a transpiler and bundler using NodeJS many times per day.

But I bought the M2 MBA mostly so I could get 24 GB of RAM on a very thin and light notebook.

14" MBP, and I've been quite happy, though i've been wondering lately if its time to upgrade to a 16".

I really enjoy my 14" but my travel days are not as frequent as before and my eyes are older/weaker.

In this economy its hard to justify spending so much on a nice to have, that I'll not be, but its something that is on my mind

I do want to get a desktop and dump one of my Intel 16's, so waiting to see if they refresh the Mini soon with the M2, or I will pick up a base Mac Studio.

I have the 14 inch base configuration, its been great to use over the last 6 months or so. It will be a while before I upgrade.

Just passed my Intel MBA down to my kids and replaced with base Studio. It's solid so far. The I/O is very nice. No complaints. I know a lot of folks say it is loud - mine has been silent so far. Or at least I don't hear it!

Air M1 base model
M1 Pro full die 16gb!

Quite happy about both of them, bought the Air to try things out and once the Pro was out I got the specs that I needed.

I picked up a midnight M2 Air locally, and I love it. I’m really glad I waited until the new design was dropped before I pursued an Apple Silicon machine. I came from a 2015 MBP and so I didn’t have to give up MagSafe, and this machine is roughly 8 times faster in Geekbench multi-core while getting 15-16 hours of battery life the way I use it. It’s a brilliant machine.
